Bit of a late post as we went last weekend but wanted to share with all my date day to The Shard. As my boyfriend owns a business, our weekends usually consist of going in to his work on a Saturday morning so he can do a check and any paperwork that needs done. Sunday is day of getting things that we need from town and the supermarket. So for us having the whole of Saturday not revolved around the workplace was a change.
By the time we got to The Shard it was late afternoon. When we arrived we weren't sure whether we had needed to prebook but by the time we got there we managed to walk straight in. If it had been earlier I think we would have had to book into the next available time slot.
First journey in the lifts takes you to floor 33, you then get another lift up to floor 68. Without giving too much away the lift roof has a display and I recommend looking up at this as you travel up.
At floor 68 you are able to get out and admire the views of London. There is a little bar up there which offers champagne and orange juice.
From this floor you are able to walk up the stairs to floor 72.

I am ok with heights so was able to stand right up against the glass however my boyfriend found the glass walls played with his mind from a distance and took him a while to stand up against the railing.
We were so lucky that we had a clear sunny day so were able to see a lot. We have told friends and family to go up even if its just the once just to admire the views.
When we came back down, we realised just how high up we had just been. There is a lot to do and many bars and restaurants around the London Bridge so you can easily spend a few hours around here and avoid the shopping area of central London.

I loved it, you have to go just to experience the views and height. Some really good bars and restaurants as well around the bottom and a really good atmosphere. Going to be a while till the next day date. xo
