A Coco Chanel Love Story
I have decided to write this post as it's always fascinated me and as much as I tell friends about it I never feel that they really understand. I got told this by a family friend who was a taxi driver in London. I think he only told me because he knew I would love to hear about it being a fashion lover. From those that live in London or visit London, have you ever seen the black Lamp posts marked with a gold Coco Chanel Logo? Is it a myth or legend that this is a homage to a fashion legend? Or simply coincidence?
Coco Chanel was in a relationship with the then Duke of Westminster and he was so taken with her that as a sign of his affection he embossed the Lamp posts around Westminster with gold CC logo alongside his W crest.
For the Fashion Lovers, they have asked many times whether this was in fact the Coco Chanel Logo. The city council have said that as much as this would be a nice idea, the W stands for Westminster and the CC stands for City Council. I question is as the Lamp posts are old and it is the exact Coco Chanel logo. If it was to stand for City Council why would they pick such a design?
Whether this is true or not, I love a Love Story and this to me is the perfect story. I believe that this is a secret mark of their once romantic union and a piece of fashion history that will evolve and live on for centuries.
