For those that love online shopping I am sure that you have come across their new bridal collections. Online brands have now included wedding fashion and beauty and wedding accessories that are a fraction of the cost compared to the wedding boutiques that we see so many of.
It is estimated that over 9000 women walked down the Aisle in a Asos wedding gown last year, proving that this was popular in their spring/summer 2016 collection and a wise move from the brand.
Asos is set to launch its latest wedding dress collection, a preview of 3/8 of the styles can be found here. We must not also forget that they cater for the Bridesmaids and also the hen party essentials and little gifts that make the lead up to the wedding just as special.
Missguided launched their bridal collection in May 2016. At the time they had a 9 piece collection. The collection "uses soft silks, luxury sequins, delicate lace and beaded embellishment to create head-to-toe statement gowns. From signature floor-skimming white dresses to an exclusive sequin side-split high-lo this is one cool girl bridal collection." Now the "Missbrided" collection includes everything from the wedding lingerie, the wedding morning dressing gowns to the shoes. Dress prices ranging from £40-£150.
The "Missbrided" Collection has now expanded to include bridesmaid dresses (ranging from £25- £65) and wedding guest dress ( from £8-£90)
Next to follow suit was Boohoo. Their capsule collection includes Bridesmaid dress, bridal PJS, Accessories and hen party accessories. For the main brides dresses, these can be brought for under £50. With regards tpo the style of dresses, they are trued to cater for every shape so have included lace maxi dresses, wrap gowns, beaded princess dresses and crochet slips (more suited for the wedding abroad). These care available with sleeves, straps or strapless.
A late add on to this post- I saw in the paper yesterday an article that fit perfectly with this post,
Rise of the £60 Wedding Dress.
Although it is not uncommon to find some wedding gowns in shops like Debenhams, Phase Eight or Monsoon, these are not always classed as the "High Street Favourites" and especially for the younger generation brides.
Topshop is the latest chain to adhere to this growing trend. Offering dresses from £350 which may seen expensive but when it comes to Wedding Dress prices, this is reasonable. Next month Dorothy Perkins are set to reveal their bridal range which starts from £85- £175 which has already got a strong waiting list.
The availability of wedding gowns on the high street may suit some brides better than others as they get to the dress "in person" rather than just a picture and this may avoid some disappointment (if on arrival it does not meet the picture expectations) and also time (if the sizing is wrong you need to return etc)
I would love to see whether you brought a dress online. Its definitely something I would consider when I eventually get a ring on my finger! Comment below with pictures of your bridal or bridesmaid dresses.
