A VERY BRITISH AFTERNOON TEA AT FLEMINGS, MAYFAIR

I was given a voucher for Afternoon Tea for my Birthday and like most things this year (after finding out I was expecting), it took a back seat when it came to booking.
I decided as a mid way treat for myself, I would book the afternoon tea and have a day out in London before it gets too tiring for me.
The Flemings hotel is described by its guests as the cities "best kept secret" in central London. It is a beautiful luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Mayfair tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Green Park and Piccadilly.
We were greeted by a doorman who welcomed us to the Hotel where we were then greeted by staff in Reception.The decor was light and airy with traditional elements such as the sofa's, wall colours and accessories. There was a slight hint of modern decor with the flower arrangements. I love decorative flower arrangements in hotels and couldn't resist taking a picture of one we passed as we were shown downstairs to The Grill Restaurant where our afternoon tea would be served.

The restaurant had a peaceful feeling with the colours and decor. We were shown to our table which was situated in a raised area to the right in the corner with a Booth type seat for me.
(After we had finished) we took a look around downstairs which was actually bigger than expected. We found the adjoining Cocktail Bar and another relaxed seating area.
All areas were decorated in vibrant colours, glass chandeliers, dark mirrors and plump seats and pillows to give that intimate relaxed atmosphere.
We were then shown a very impressive menu which consisted of all the different loose leaf teas they had to offer. I will admit half of them I had never heard of before, not your typical supermarket tea's. I opted for a simple Early Grey Tea.
The afternoon tea itself consisted of a selection of Sandwiches such as Cucumber Cream Cheese & smoked semi dried tomato, Smoked Salmon with lemon & dill butter, Egg Mayonnaise & watercress and Wiltshire Ham & wholegrain mustard. This was followed by plain and raisin Scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Lastly, we had a very colourful chef's selection of Petit fours.
The Flemings have 7 different Afternoon Tea Menu's which cater for both different occasions and dietary needs.
