Its beginning to look like Blogmas
Hi everyone, so its been a long time since I sat down and did a post and I thought what better way to get back into it then BLOGMAS!!
Yes that's right, I have for the past few nights rattled my brain and planned 25 posts for you. This is my first year taking part in Blogmas and I will admit it is a little bit exciting as I guess its my own little countdown to the big day. I'm trying not to get too stressed about the fact that I need to post every day for 25 days which will mean a lot of writing, picture taking and planning (which will all have to be done when Harrison is napping or sleeping at night). Since becoming a mummy I've actually become more organised so this shouldn't be too difficult for me.
So this post is just a few pointers to how ill tackle the challenge ahead for anyone else that may be taking part in Blogmas and needs a little guidance.
Plan out your posts
The first thing I did was sit down and write down a load of ideas, I then decided which post would be for each day. This has made it a lot easier as I now know what I'm going to be writing about each day and means I don't have to think on the spot for an idea on the day.
Start writing your posts now
There is no harm in starting to write a few of your posts now when you have a spare few minutes (in bed or in the bath for me!). You can easily add/take away things on the post on the day. After all you may have ideas now that you forget in a few days time.
Gift Guides can be written and scheduled for later on as the products in the shops/online are unlikely to change in the run up to Christmas.
Take Bulk Pictures
I'm sure you do this already, but now we need at least 24+ different pictures for our posts.
We need to remember that it is winter and light is not on our side so any spare time you have use wisely in taking pictures.
There may be the occasion when pictures can only be taken there and then i.e cooking posts, tree/house decorations so you may need to think about possibly doing those on a weekend if you work throughout the week.
Make sure everyone knows your taking part
If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen that I mentioned that I was taking part in Blogmas. This gives my readers (if any) the opportunity to know that on the 1st December there will be a new post. It also creates a sense of excitement 'what's it going to be'.
Of course let people know when you post so they know you haven't missed a day, the more you can stick to it the more they are likely to check back the following day(s).
Use the # everyone loves a #. People may be intrigued to see what your blogmas posts are about and you could gain more followers.
Don't forget to also mention @ brands as they may retweet and again more readers/followers.
I hope these tips help you in getting started with Blogmas. Leave me a comment below if your planning on doing Blogmas and also what your favourite festive posts to read are.
